Dräger REGARD control system
Tried and tested thousands of times and infinitely flexible. The modular Regard control system can be individually adapted to any monitoring task. Suitable for SIL 2 systems, the Regard system is also ATEX approved, and meets EMC directive standards.
Product features
- Simple configuration
- The modular construction of the Regard system ensures a clear system structure. The system can be configured manually through each individual card, as a whole or in groups through the master card, or for even more simplicity, via a usb connection to PC or laptop. Configuration can be saved, compared to find changes or conflicts, or reverted to original configured state.
- Established system
- The Regard product family includes single-channel and multi-channel cards, input and relay modules for mounting on DIN rails and communication cards and communication modules for linking with a PC or higher-ranking systems. There is the option to connect 4-20-mA transmitters, HART transmitters that communicate digitally and Polytron-SE-Ex sensing heads. The LEDs on the front plate of the cards provide information on alarm status and failure status. A display will show the current measured value. Measured values and alarm status can be transferred to linked systems via Modbus or Profibus. With more than 240,000 Regard inputs/outputs worldwide it is a well established system.
- Flexibility
-
Regard control systems are flexible and can be adjusted to individual requirements. Conventional single-channel card systems are possible as well as multi-channel systems with markedly reduced installation costs.
The visualisation of measured values and alarm states on a PC with the information transfer via Modbus can also be realised, as well as the integration in process control systems via the Profibus module.

System Components
The PIR 7000 is a SIL 2 approved explosion proof infrared gas detector for the continuous monitoring of flammable gases and vapours. With a 316 stainless steel enclosure and drift free heated measurement optics, it is built for the harshest industrial and offshore applications.
The Dräger Polytron 7000 is an intrinsically safe gas detector for the continuous monitoring of toxic gasses and oxygen. With its unique modular design and total flexibility: The Dräger Polytron 7000 is a truly universal transmitter that can satisfy all toxic and oxygen measurement applications on a single platform. SIL 2 Approval guarantees no unrevealed failures.
The Dräger PEX 3000 is an explosion proof gas detector for the continuous monitoring of flammable gases and vapours in ambient air.
The Dräger Polytron 7500 is a pyrolysing gas detector for the continuous monitoring of toxic gases such as NF3 and perfluorinated C4F6 and C5F8 in the ambient air. The device contains all necessary functions such as sampling, processing and analysis in one enclosure.
The Dräger Flame 5000 is an explosion proof flame detector. The device processes live video images to detect the characteristic properties of flames by means of its digital signal processing and software algorithms.
The Dräger Pulsar 2 is an open path infrared gas detector. Representing the very latest advances in open pat technology – the Dräger Polytron Pulsar 2 is intended for the detection of a range of gaseous hydrocarbons. This includes the alkane series from methane to hexane, propylene, ethylene, methanol and ethanol. Equipped with either a terminal box or a certified cable entry point, the detector incorporates flexible installation.
The Dräger Polytron 2 XP Ex is an explosion proof gas detector for continuous monitoring of combustible gases and vapours in ambient air.
The Dräger Polytron 2 XP Tox is an explosion proof gas detector for continuous monitoring of toxic gases and oxygen in ambient air. The transmitter converts the signal from an electrochemical sensor to 4 to 20 mA analog, HART® or RS 485 digital signal output. The unit is designed for one-man calibration, and offers a variety of diagnostics and self test features.

List of detectable gases and vapours.
For over 70 years, Dräger has been one of the technology leaders in gas detection.
When there’s danger in the air ... this can quickly pose a high risk to humans, the environment, and all types of property and systems. Recognize the threat before it is too late.
Safety Instrumented Systems are used to reduce the risk for the protection of people, plants, and environment.
Explosion hazards mostly arise from flammable gases and vapours. Instead of avoiding their ignition by explosion protection measures it may be preferable to detect them before they become ignitable.
